Protoje wir als einer der einflussreichsten Künstler im Reggae gesehen und vermischt oft

Einflüsse aus HipHop, Soul und Jazz mit seinem eigenen Reggae und Dancehall Sound.

In seiner neuen Single „Legend Legend“ zollt er Bob Marley Tribut, kurz nach dessen

Geburtstag und der Premiere des „One Love“ Films. Diese Single folgt auf seine letzte

Hitsingle „30 Million“ und wurde vom britischen Produzentenduo The FaNaTiX (Nicki

Minaj, David Guetta, Koffee, Popcaan) produziert.

„Als ich den Song geschrieben habe, weißt du, da hab ich nur rumgevibed und

improvisiert. Als ich dann „Legend Legend“ sagte musste ich an Bob Marley’s Best

of Album denken und da entstand die Idee kreativ damit umzugehen und seine

Album- und Songtitel zu nutzen und daraus den Text zu schreiben. Mein Vater

(Calypso King Mike Ollivierre) hat das Selbe, als ich klein war, mal mit den Songs

eines seiner großen Helden, dem Calypso Star Sparrow, gemacht. Er hat all seine

Songtitel genommen und daraus einen Song geschrieben und ich dachte mir

damals schon, dass das eine coole Art ist für jemanden seinen Respekt

Der Grammy nominierte Künstler wurde bereits in Magazinen wie dem Rolling Stone, THE

FADER und Vogue Magazine gefeatured, und ist in der Tonight Show mit Jimmy Fallon

und NPR's Tiny Desk Concert Serie aufgetreten.

Protoje is regarded as one of reggae music's most influential artists, and often blends hip

hop, soul and jazz into his native sounds of reggae and dancehall. Here he pays homage

to the great Bob Marley on this reggae track 'Legend Legend', releasing directly after Bob

Marley's birthday and the premiere of the One Love movie. This single follows his most

recent hit song "30 Million", and is produced by the UK production duo The FaNaTIX (Nicki

Minaj, David Guetta, Koffee, Popcaan).

"When I was writing this song you know I was just vibing and improvising, and when

I said "Legend Legend" I thought of Bob Marley's compilation and the idea just

came to be creative and use his album and song title names to write the lyrics. My

dad (calypso king Mike Ollivierre) when I was younger did the same with one of his

inspirations Sparrow, a big calypso star. He used all of his song titles to write a

song, and I always thought it was a good concept to pay homage to someone you
