Skarra Mucci ist ein jamaikanischer Reggae und Dancehall Künstler, der in Kingston
geboren wurde. Er ist bekannt als der „Dancehall Präsident“ und seine Karriere umfasst
bisher sieben Soloalben inkl. des wichtigen „Return of the Raggamuffin“ (2012) und vielen
Klassikern und kultigen Collaborationen wie sein Hit „My Sound“ vom Album „Greater
Than Great“ (2014), der mittlerweile mehr als 15 Millionen Stream hat, und das von der
Kritik hoch gelobte „Dancehall Präsident“ (2016) mit dazugehöriger Tour mit 100
Konzerten von Mexiko bis China.
Fünf Jahre nach der Veröffentlichung von „Skarra Mucci & The One Love Family“ (2018)
macht sich der Sänger mit dem vielseitigem Flow und der eingängigen Stimme daran sein
neues Album „Perfect Timing“ zu veröffentlichen, welches am 29. September 2023
erscheint.
Das Album startet mit einem hybriden Roots - HipHop Riddim. Bläser und Percussion
resonieren in dem Song, während Skarra Mucci immer wieder für das mitreißende Vocal
Sample Platz macht, welches „Here I Come“ die Tiefe gibt.
Ein Opener, der den Ton für das Album setzt – ein Mix aus Genres, die vom Produzenten
Undisputed Records, und einem Team aus großartigen Riddim Komponisten,
zusammengehalten werden. „Perfect Timing“ ist eine Ode an den Reggae der
verschiedenen Äras mit reichlichen Verneigungen vor der Soundsystem Kultur von den
Anfängen bis in die heutige Zeit. Von der Auswahl der Features bis zu den Beats wurde
nichts dem Zufall überlassen. Es gibt eine Reise durch die Highlights dieser reichen Kultur
die nie aufgehört hat sich zu entwickeln – und kein Style wird ausgelassen. Für die erste
Single hat sich Skarra Mucci mit Yannis Odua ein Schwergewicht der aktuellen
französischen Reggaeszene für den Song „Roots Rock Reggae“ eingeladen. Man ist ja
schon gewohnt an Alben mit vielen großen Kollaborationen, und „Perfect Timing“ ist hier
keine Ausnahme. Auf dem Song „Street Dance“ findet man die französischen Produzenten
L’Entourloop, mit denen Skarra Mucci die sehr erfolgreiche EP „Golden Nuggets“ (2019, 6
Songs, 20 Millionen Streams) veröffentlicht hat, um erneut einen HipHop-Dancehall
Banger abzuliefern, der an ihren 2013er Hit „Dreader Than Dread“ (42 Millionen Streams)
anzuknüpfen.
Die jamaikanische Legende Johnny Osbourne ist auch zu Gast und liefert eine Version
seines 80er Jahre Klassikers „What A La La“ auf einem Riddim des französischen
Riddimmaker Manudigital.
Im Song „Dancehall“, der von der Dub Akom Band produziert wurde, geht Skarra Mucci
weiter auf seiner Reise durch die Styles und Einflüsse und versorgt uns mit reichlich
Klasse und Swing. Und dann ist da noch „Who Fool Them“, ein UK Stepper Track der von
Evidence Music produziert wurde, sowie der Future Dancehall Klassiker „Rappa Pam
Pam“ und das mystische „Misty Babylon“, welches deutlich mehr im Roots Reggae Style
daher kommt.
Schließen tut das Album mit dem titelgebenden „Perfect Timing“, einem Lovers Rock Song
mit fröhlicher Melodie und groovendem Bass. Ein Abschluss in der Form einer
Liebeserklärung an den Reggae, die Musik die ihm so viel gegeben hat und für die er alles
gibt.
Am 29.09.2023 erscheint das Album „Perfect Timing“, welches er im Anschluss auf einer
Europatour präsentieren wird.
